Bodyboard Movement Magazine Issue 42 - The Return of Movement

It had been four long years since Movement Magazine decided it was time to press pause.

In that time, the bodyboarding community had experienced its fair share of highs and lows. Noticing the need for a fresh perspective, a motley crew of bodyboarders, filmmakers, writers, designers and photographers hit the play button once more, breathing life back into one of the most iconic surf magazines in Australia.

From Movement’s Publisher Ben Player: “I started Movement Magazine 12 years ago with one simple goal – to make something cool that caters to bodyboarders. For eight years we did just that. Today, I’m excited to announce that we are re-publishing the quarterly magazine with the same goal: to pick up where we left off and continue to foster a movement that truly represents the global bodyboarding community and grow something together that we can all be proud of.”

This December 2016, Movement returned with 200 spectacular pages of features on far-flung lands (from chasing waves and near-death in Scotland with Ben Player, to traversing the volcanic isles with Lewy Finnegan and Pierre Louis-Costes and reminiscing on the best Hawaii season ever with five young guns), conversations with fresh faces and heavy-hitters of the sport (like our exclusive interview with comeback kid, Mitch Rawlins), and the absolute best wave-riding images immortalised in print form (from the return of BANG – Movement’s infamous section of straight-up surf porn – to shooting alien landscapes with renowned adventureman, Chris Burkard).

We also spoke with Mike Stewart, Amaury Lavernhe, and more to get the low- down on the rise of the new world tour, talked poster boys with Dave Winchester and fostered a surf bromance with Nick Gornall, Craig Anderson, Dallas Singer and Kai Neville.

Movement celebrates bodyboarders for being different. It’s a space to hang out, have a few beers, share surf stories and wax on what’s cool. Whether you’re a return reader or about to pick up the magazine for the first time, thanks for being part of the Movement.
